Shipper and Receiver - On Call

Location: Barrie, ON

Status: On-Call - no guarantee of hours (may be called in the morning the day of to come in, ideal for someone retired)


  • Handle incoming/outgoing shipments
  • Input transactions into database receiving records
  • Prepare receiving documents including count, damaged items, date/signature
  • Report missing or damaged items, initiate trace of lost items and advise client within 24 hours
  • Ensure all goods are appropriately packaged for shipping
  • Schedule transportation carriers for same day/local shipments
  • Maintain accurate records for all items
  • Obtain all appropriate signatures required for shipment and pick up
  • Ensure all safety procedures are followed, report hazardous spills
  • Assist with loading/unloading of transportation vehicles using dock power equipment; unpack skids when required
  • Other duties as required


  • Completion of secondary school
  • Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel) Lotus Notes, Internet and Email
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Able to lift 40-50 pounds regularly
  • Operating pump truck
  • Knowledge and experience using UPS and Purolator Shipping systems is an asset
